Shito-Ryu Karate is one of the four original, traditional styles of Japanese karate, alongside Shotokan, Goju-Ryu, and Wado-Ryu. Founded by Kenwa Mabuni in the early 20th century, it blends the powerful, linear techniques of Shuri-te with the fluid, circular movements of Naha-te, creating a well-rounded and versatile martial art. Renowned for its effectiveness in both self-defense and competition, Shito-Ryu practitioners excel in kata (forms) and kumite (sparring), consistently achieving success in national and international tournaments. This style emphasizes precision, adaptability, and the preservation of Okinawan martial arts traditions.
Marcell Mrsan is a certified karate instructor. He has a long history in karate, practicing karate from early childhood. He earned his black belt in Hayashi-ha Shito-Ryu in 2004. He was a successful competitor for many years, participating several local and international competition. He trained many hundred karate practitioners.
It begins with a brief ceremony, followed by a warm-up. Afterward, there is basic technique practice, leading into the main focus of the training session—whether it’s specific techniques, forms, or self-defense. Each session should introduce something new, with lessons building upon one another—another great reason not to skip training!
